On the afternoon of July 2, 2023, law enforcement officers in Assumption Parish responded to a shooting incident at a residence on Elaine Street in Bayou L’Ourse. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the lifeless body of Atanacio Guerrero, a 40-year-old Hispanic male, inside the home. Guerrero had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
