On the evening of June 26, 2023, Indrias Joseph, a 68-year-old male employee of the Platinum Food Mart in Louisville, Kentucky, was shot and killed during his shift. The incident occurred at the gas station located in the 1000 block of West Broadway. According to court documents, a verbal altercation preceded the fatal shooting. Joseph was pronounced dead at the scene. Born in Pakistan on August 28, 1954, Indrias had served in the Pakistani Air Force before immigrating.
He was a father to six children and a grandfather to sixteen.
Following an investigation, the Louisville Metro Police Department identified a suspect through surveillance footage and tips from the community. On September 20, 2023, authorities arrested 23-year-old JoJuanta Dickerson in connection with the shooting. Dickerson was charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Court records indicate that Dickerson entered the gas station, engaged in a dispute with Joseph, and then allegedly shot him in the chest. During a court appearance on September 22, 2023, a not-guilty plea was entered on Dickerson's behalf. A judge set his bond at $250,000.
