On May 1, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred at a residence on Main Street in Leominster, Massachusetts, resulting in the death of 53-year-old Jeffrey Carr. The incident happened during an argument between Carr and his girlfriend, Jami Parker, 28, at her home located at the intersection of Main Street and Keystone Drive.
Parker called 911 to report the shooting, requesting an ambulance for Carr. Upon arrival, law enforcement found Carr on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound to the head, and he was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.
Jami Parker was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and armed assault to murder. She appeared in court, where her interim defense attorney noted that she is a sergeant in the Massachusetts National Guard, having enlisted in 2018, and has no prior criminal record. The attorney also mentioned a history of restraining orders against the alleged victim, Jeffrey Carr.
Court documents revealed that Carr had previously been charged with assault-related offenses against Parker. In January, he was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon for allegedly throwing glass Christmas ornaments at Parker, and in September, he was charged with assault and battery on Parker, who was pregnant at the time, for allegedly hitting her during an argument. Both charges were dropped at Carr's request after Parker applied for a temporary restraining order.
The incident was reported around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and several police vehicles were seen outside the residence early the next morning. An infant was present in the home at the time of the shooting.
Parker's arraignment took place at Leominster District Court, where her attorney requested more time to review the facts of the case. The Worcester County District Attorney's Office initially withheld the names of the individuals involved due to the domestic nature of the incident.
