On October 25, 2024, Brent Berkeley, a 41-year-old White male from Plymouth, Massachusetts, was tragically killed. The incident, which has been described as an apparent road rage altercation, took place in the Middle Street town parking lot in Plymouth. Berkeley, a loving father of two, was a foreman for a local landscaping company and was remembered by friends and family as a kind and hardworking man who cherished spending time with his loved ones.
The events leading to Berkeley's death
began with a minor traffic incident involving his Jeep SUV and a Toyota RAV4 driven by 23-year-old David Jerome, also of Plymouth. The situation escalated into a physical altercation between the two men. Following the fight, Jerome allegedly shot Berkeley multiple times. Police received multiple 911 calls around 5:45 p.m. reporting the shooting. Upon arrival, they found Berkeley with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth, where he was pronounced dead.
Witnesses at the scene identified David Jerome as the shooter, and he was arrested without incident. Jerome's 18-month-old son was reportedly in his vehicle at the time of the shooting. He has been charged with murder, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, reckless endangerment of a child, and several other firearms-related offenses. Following the shooting, Jerome's license to carry a firearm was suspended. The community has mourned Berkeley's senseless death, with a local tavern where his fiancée worked holding a fundraiser for his family.
