Thomas "TJ" Nunley, a 19-year-old, was tragically killed on December 9, 2012, in Jacksonville, Florida. TJ had gone for a walk along Fort Caroline Road in the Arlington neighborhood, as he often did to clear his mind while working on art or music projects. Sadly, he was found dead later that day, having been shot once in the chest. The scene of the crime indicated no signs of robbery, and TJ had no known enemies, which has made this case particularly challenging for investigators.
Despite years of efforts by law enforcement, the case remains unsolved, leaving his family yearning for answers.
TJ Nunley was remembered as a creative and gentle young man with a bright future ahead of him. He had plans to start college and become a graphic designer. His family described him as a loving son and brother, who enjoyed gardening with his mother and had a deep love for music, especially the Beatles. His death has left a painful void in his family's lives, and they have worked tirelessly to bring attention to his unsolved murder. A $15,000 reward has been offered for information that could lead to the arrest of his killer, in hopes of preventing anyone else from experiencing such pain.
Authorities have very limited evidence in this case, and no video footage was available from the area. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office continues to ask anyone with information to come forward. They emphasize that, while difficult, the case is not impossible to solve, and they believe there are individuals who know what happened that day. TJ’s family and law enforcement remain hopeful that someone will come forward with the crucial information needed to finally bring justice for TJ and provide some closure to those who loved him.
