On February 18, 2023, Annissa Ellen-Williams, a 25-year-old woman from Oswego, Illinois, was found dead with a gunshot wound. The incident occurred when Oswego police responded to a call at approximately 6:56 a.m. on the 100 block of Presidential Boulevard, where Ellen-Williams was discovered lying on the ground outside a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head.
Initially, police were informed that Ellen-Williams had allegedly shot herself while driving a vehicle on a highway, although the exact location of the shooting could not be determined. The front seat passenger, later identified as Alexis Telles, took control of the vehicle and drove it to the residence in Oswego, where she called the police.
Upon arrival, officers provided medical assistance to Ellen-Williams until paramedics arrived, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kendall County Coroner's Office was notified, and a forensic autopsy was performed the next day, which preliminarily indicated that Ellen-Williams had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Final autopsy results were pending further investigation and toxicological testing.
The investigation, conducted by the Oswego Police Department and the Illinois State Police, revealed that the manner of death was later ruled a homicide rather than a self-inflicted wound. As a result, Alexis Telles, a 26-year-old woman from the same address, was charged with three counts of first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated battery of a peace officer, and one count of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. Telles had also allegedly battered two police officers while at the Oswego Police Department during the investigation.
Telles is currently being held at the Kendall County Jail with a bail set at $3.04 million, with 10 percent applicable for bond. The case remains under investigation, and authorities are seeking any additional information from the public.
