The incident took place around 10 p.m. in a building located in the 6100 block of South Western Avenue, identified as the "Hallberg Insurance Network," which appeared to be abandoned at the time of the shooting.
Police found Bartholomew Beal with a gunshot wound to the head, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported seeing a man running away from the location of the shooting, which aided in the investigation.
In connection with the shooting, 59-year-old Albert Coburn was arrested and charged with one felony count of murder with a strong probability of death or injury. Coburn was taken into custody on August 18, 2023, in the 7900 block of South Francisco Avenue and was due to appear in bond court shortly thereafter.
The investigation and subsequent arrest indicate that the case is no longer unsolved, with Albert Coburn identified as the offender responsible for Bartholomew Beal's death.
