On July 1, 2013, Jerry Wayne Sherrell, a 54-year-old man from Miami, Florida, was fatally shot in a violent incident. The shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. at 282 NE 54th Street as Sherrell was walking home after buying cigarettes.
