Brandt Glover, a 17-year-old student, died on March 17, 2023, in Pine Hills, Florida. The incident occurred at a home on White Heron Drive, where Glover was with his friends and brothers.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting was accidental. It happened while Glover’s friends and one of his brothers were passing around a gun that they believed was unloaded. Despite the gun being checked, it was still loaded without anyone's knowledge.
The gun went off as Glover’s brother passed it to one of the friends, resulting in Glover being shot in the head.
At the time of the shooting, the group was in a room playing video games, listening to music, and smoking. One of the friends present was using his phone and reported that there were no issues among anyone in the room. Another brother of Glover was asleep in another room and initially thought the news of the shooting was a joke when he was woken up and informed.
Glover was pronounced dead at a hospital following the incident. He was a student at Jones High School, and the school community expressed deep grief over his loss. Jones High School Principal Orlando Norwood sent a message to parents and staff, offering support and announcing the availability of grief counselors on campus.
As of the report, no arrests had been announced, and the investigation into the incident was ongoing.
