On August 11, 2023, Franklin Orwig Sr., a 58-year-old resident of Cocoa, Florida, was shot and killed in an incident that occurred in unincorporated Cocoa. The investigation began when deputies from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Burgess Avenue at approximately 9:45 p.m. after receiving a report that a man had been shot.
