Tierra Binion, a 25-year-old mother of twins, was shot and killed in the early hours of August 23, 2023, at Mugs & Jugs, a bar located on Scenic Highway in Escambia County, Florida. The incident began with an argument inside the bar between Binion and Rachel DeRise, the girlfriend of Christian Ketchup. The argument escalated, and the two women moved to the parking lot where they continued fighting, described by Sheriff Chip Simmons as "mutually combatant."

During the altercation, DeRise sucker punched Binion, knocking her out. DeRise then continued to beat Binion while she was on the ground. Christian Ketchup, DeRise's boyfriend, intervened by punching Binion and possibly knocking her unconscious. He then pulled out a handgun and shot Binion seven times.

Ketchup called the deputies shortly after the incident and turned himself in. He is currently charged with murder and is being held in Escambia County Jail on no bond. Rachel DeRise was charged with battery and later took a plea deal, receiving a sentence of 60 days in county jail and 12 months of probation.

The community has been deeply affected by Binion's death, with her family and friends holding a vigil near Blue Wahoos Stadium in Downtown Pensacola to remember her. Her mother, Brandy Espiritu, has called for improved security at Mugs & Jugs or for the bar to be shut down to prevent similar incidents in the future. The sheriff's office has also released pictures of potential witnesses and urged anyone with information to come forward.

As of the current date, Christian Ketchup is awaiting a hearing for his murder charge, scheduled for September 25, 2024.
