Kyla Alexandra Arce, a 33-year-old woman, was tragically killed by her boyfriend, Paul Digiacinto, on October 23, 2023, in Coral Springs, Florida. The incident occurred at Digiacinto's parents' home, located on Northwest 21st Street near 107th Way.
According to the police report, Digiacinto's mother returned home from work around 3:30 p.m. and noticed her son pacing the house, seemingly under the influence of an unknown substance. The situation escalated when Digiacinto entered the living room completely naked and armed with a gun. His mother fled the residence through a side laundry room exit and heard gunshots from inside soon after. She returned to find Digiacinto sitting on the couch beside the deceased victim, Arce, with a firearm nearby.
During the incident, Digiacinto also attacked his father, who attempted to get the gun away from him. The father reported that Digiacinto had been acting strangely in the days leading up to the incident, exhibiting paranoia, not sleeping, and not eating. He believed people were following him, which led him and Arce to stay with his parents for a month.
The Coral Springs Police Department responded to frantic 911 calls, including one from Digiacinto's mother, detailing the terrifying situation. Officers found Digiacinto inside the house, and despite attempts to establish communication, he refused to surrender. He took all available cell phones from the home and attempted to flush them down the toilet to prevent communication with law enforcement. After a standoff, SWAT units took charge, and Digiacinto was eventually tackled and taken into custody at the rear of the house.
Upon entering the residence, officers found Arce dead on the floor with a gunshot wound to her head. Digiacinto's father, who had managed to escape the house with visible injuries, including rib fractures, was transported to Broward Health Coral Springs Hospital.
Digiacinto was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail, where he is being held without bond. He has been charged with premeditated murder in connection with Arce's death.
Arce's friends and loved ones remembered her fondly as a beautiful soul and a light in the room, describing her as someone who could get along with anyone and loved her plants. They expressed their devastation and confusion over the tragedy, seeking answers and justice for her death.
