On February 6, 2016, 20-year-old Kayla Freeland was tragically shot to death in her apartment in the Arlington Village area of Jacksonville, Florida. Her boyfriend found her body when he returned home around 10 a.m., having left briefly to visit a convenience store. Their young son, just one day away from his first birthday, was unharmed and found inside the apartment.
Authorities classified the death as a homicide, but despite appeals from her family and investigators, no suspects have been identified, and the case remains unsolved.
