On the evening of November 16, 2024, 9-year-old African American boy Antavious Scott, affectionately known as "TayTay," was fatally shot while playing football with friends outside the Southpoint Crossing apartment complex on West Lucy Street in Florida City, Florida. Around 9:30 p.m., two individuals dressed in dark clothing approached the area and opened fire toward the group, striking Antavious in the back.
