In the winter of 2023 in Alamosa, Colorado, a young man named Aron Delgado, a 24-year-old Hispanic male, lost his life. On the evening of January 9th, officers from the Alamosa Police Department were dispatched to a residence on West 6th Street following a report of a disturbance and possible gunfire. Upon arrival, they found Delgado unresponsive, lying on the ground with a gunshot wound.
Despite the immediate life-saving efforts of the officers and emergency medical services, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The investigation into Delgado's death led to the charging of two men, Alejandro Sandoval, 31, and Christian Montano, 24. Sandoval faced charges of conspiracy to commit assault in the first degree and manslaughter. Montano was charged with aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit assault in the first degree. The incident that culminated in Delgado's death reportedly began as an altercation involving Delgado, Montano, and another man, 24-year-old Jose Cordova.
According to reports, the situation escalated to a physical struggle, during which a firearm was produced. In the ensuing struggle for the weapon, it discharged, fatally wounding Aron Delgado. Following the incident, Cordova fled the scene with the firearm but was later located by the Colorado State Patrol and has been cooperating with the ongoing investigation. The case has proceeded through the 12th Judicial District Attorney's Office, bringing charges against Sandoval and Montano for their alleged involvement in the events that led to the tragic death of Aron Delgado.
