On the evening of January 8, 2023, a young man's life was cut tragically short in a Council Bluffs, Iowa, apartment. Tucker August Dobberstein, a 19-year-old male from Fremont, Nebraska, was found deceased on the floor of an apartment at 209 South 4th Street. The cause of his death was a gunshot wound to the chest. Council Bluffs police were dispatched to the location at approximately 5:15 p.m. after receiving reports of gunshots inside the building.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Dobberstein's body.
The subsequent investigation into the death of Tucker Dobberstein revealed a harrowing plot of robbery and violence. Authorities determined that seven individuals conspired to rob Dobberstein, who was reportedly delivering drugs to them. According to police reports, four of the suspects met with Dobberstein inside the apartment. During the course of the robbery, shots were fired, leading to his death. The investigation moved swiftly, and within a month, all seven suspects were in custody, facing charges of first-degree murder and robbery.
The suspects, all from Council Bluffs, were identified as Keshawn Houtz-Mayfield, 20; Traavon Thomas, 20; Treianna Hudson, 20; Devin Adkins, 30; Trebor Carman, 19; Dontre Hudson, 20; and Angelina Michaelson, 20. The arrests were made in various locations, with some of the suspects being apprehended in Omaha, Nebraska, and one, Devin Adkins, being arrested as far away as Shreveport, Louisiana. The collaborative efforts of the Council Bluffs Police Department and the Southwest Iowa Fugitive Task Force led to the capture of all individuals allegedly involved in the death of Tucker August Dobberstein, bringing a measure of resolution to a case that began with a fatal gunshot in a quiet apartment building.
