In the early morning hours of April 18, 2015, the community of Guadalupe, Arizona, was disturbed by the sound of gunfire. Responding to a 911 call at approximately 2:30 a.m., Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the area of Calle Azteca and Calle Cerritos to find a grim scene. Twenty-nine-year-old Sixto Sanchez was discovered lying in the roadway, having succumbed to fatal gunshot wounds.
The investigation into the death of the young man, a construction driver and father to a
daughter, was immediately launched by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. Authorities appealed to the public for any information regarding the shooting. At the time, another homicide had occurred in Guadalupe, but investigators quickly determined that the two incidents were not related and that they were searching for separate perpetrators.
Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the search for those responsible for Sixto Sanchez's death has not led to any publicly announced arrests or the identification of any suspects in the years that have followed.
