Doran Rashad Moore, a 35-year-old African American man, was fatally shot on the night of December 21, 2017, outside his home in the 3000 block of Fourth Street Circle in the Woodstock neighborhood of West Jacksonville, Florida. Officers from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to reports of gunfire around 9:15 p.m. and found Moore lying in his front yard with at least one gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of paramedics, Moore was declared dead at the scene.
Another individual, believed to be involved in the same incident, later arrived at UF Health Jacksonville with non-life-threatening injuries.
Known in the local music scene as 'Mista Mo,' Moore was a respected rapper affiliated with Block Enterprises. He collaborated with artists such as Ralo and Young Greatness and was actively involved in the #rebuildingHipHopblockByBLOCK movement. Beyond his musical career, Moore was deeply committed to his community, frequently participating in charitable events aimed at supporting underprivileged children. On the day of his death, he had attended a charity event for children, underscoring his dedication to giving back.
Moore was a devoted father of two, with a third child on the way at the time of his death. His mother, Sheila Moore, expressed profound grief over the loss of her son but also conveyed a message of forgiveness towards the unknown assailant, stating, 'I got to forgive. I know God is going to take care of everything for us.'
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Doran Rashad Moore. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the case, and the community remains hopeful that justice will be served.
