In a quiet Scottsdale, Arizona home, a grim discovery was made on September 5, 2020, bringing a tragic end to the life of 78-year-old Nancy Arnold. A female, she was found deceased from a gunshot wound inside the residence she shared with her brother near 68th Street and Indian School Road. The series of events that led to this violent outcome began to unfold when concerned friends, unable to make contact with the siblings for days, requested a welfare check from local authorities.
Upon
their arrival, Scottsdale police officers entered the home to find Ms. Arnold already deceased. Her brother, 73-year-old William Lokay, was also discovered at the scene, alive but with severe, self-inflicted gunshot wounds. It became apparent to investigators that Lokay had shot his sister before turning the gun on himself in a failed suicide attempt. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Following his release from the hospital, William Lokay was taken into custody by the Scottsdale police. He was subsequently arrested and faced the grave charge of first-degree murder in connection with his sister's death. The case, however, would not proceed to a full trial. In 2022, while the legal proceedings were ongoing, William Lokay passed away, closing the final chapter on this familial tragedy.
