In the winter of 2021, a domestic dispute in a Phoenix, Arizona apartment complex escalated into a tragic and final act of violence, claiming the life of 33-year-old Desiree 'Dezzy' Marie Colter. On the morning of January 19th, the residence she shared with her 43-year-old boyfriend, John Parker, became the scene of a murder-suicide.
Phoenix police and fire personnel were dispatched to the apartment near 4000 West Wonderview Road at approximately 9:15 a.m.
following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered both Desiree and John Parker inside, each having sustained fatal gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced both individuals deceased at the scene.
Investigators determined that the tragic event stemmed from a domestic argument between the couple that had turned violent. In the course of the dispute, John Parker fatally shot Desiree before turning the gun on himself, ending his own life. The case was consequently ruled a murder-suicide, with Parker identified as the sole suspect in Desiree's death. As the perpetrator died at the scene, there were no arrests to be made in connection with this incident.
