Carlos Valdez, a 21-year-old Hispanic/Latino man from Phoenix, Arizona, was shot to death on the evening of January 12, 2022, after police were called to reports of gunfire near the intersection of 71st Avenue and Indian School Road in west Phoenix. Responding officers found him seated inside a vehicle that was parked along the side of the roadway, suffering from multiple apparent gunshot wounds.
