In the early morning hours of July 2, 2022, a gathering of partygoers in Phoenix, Arizona, turned tragic. As a group was leaving a party in the area of 3600 W. Campbell Avenue at approximately 5:56 a.m., gunfire erupted. When the Phoenix Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered 20-year-old Jeret Perez Garcia on the ground next to a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound.
The fire department pronounced the young Hispanic male deceased at the scene.
The violence of that morning was not limited to just one victim. In the front yard of the residence, officers found two other individuals, a man and a woman, who had also sustained gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Witnesses at the scene reported hearing multiple gunshots before calling the police.
Detectives from the Homicide Unit responded to investigate the deadly shooting, processing the crime scene and interviewing those who were present. According to some reports, two suspects exited a vehicle and shot Perez Garcia several times. Despite the ongoing investigation, no suspects have been taken into custody. The Phoenix Police Department has asked for the public's assistance, encouraging anyone with information to come forward and contact either the department directly or Silent Witness to remain anonymous.
