In a heartbreaking turn of events, 15-year-old Daniela Espinosa was fatally shot in her own home in Phoenix on a late Sunday evening. The tragic incident unfolded when a 17-year-old boy, described as a close friend of the family who had been living with them intermittently, was allegedly manipulating a firearm.
Daniela was in the front room of her house, sitting on the couch, when the suspect reportedly pulled out a gun and fired, striking her twice in the stomach.
The gunfire also injured Daniela's brother, who was shot in the foot. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Daniela succumbed to her injuries.
The teenage suspect was detained at the scene and is now facing charges of second-degree murder and aggravated assault.
