In the late summer of 2017, the community of Hastings, Nebraska, was met with the quiet and somber news of the passing of one of its young residents. Jose G. "Joey" Hansen, a 19-year-old Caucasian male, died on Monday, September 11, 2017, in the city where he lived. Born on October 23, 1997, in the nearby city of Grand Island, Hansen was a recent graduate of Hastings High School, having received his diploma in 2016.
