On a Tuesday morning in the small town of Bloomfield, Nebraska, the community was shaken by a sudden act of violence that claimed the life of 49-year-old William Reffett, a Caucasian male. The tragic events unfolded on February 20, 2024, at Curt's Lanes and Dining, a local bowling alley where Reffett was employed. What began as an argument escalated into a double homicide, leaving another man, 77-year-old Curtis Strom, the owner of the establishment, also deceased.
According to
investigators, 25-year-old Alias Reed entered the bowling alley with a shotgun and initiated a confrontation with Reffett. During the altercation, Reed allegedly shot Reffett before turning the weapon on Strom, who was not involved in the initial dispute. After the shootings, Reed fled the scene, but was apprehended by law enforcement a short time later.
The investigation led to the arrest of a second individual, 27-year-old Kaylyne Sweazy, who is believed to be Reed's girlfriend. Sweazy faces charges of tampering with evidence. Investigators believe she and Reed traveled together to dispose of the murder weapon, which was later recovered from a ditch several miles west of Bloomfield. Authorities also located cash that had been stolen from the bowling alley.
Alias Reed has since been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and robbery. In a subsequent court appearance, Reed stood mute on all charges, leading the court to enter a not guilty plea on his behalf. The case is set to proceed through the legal system, with a trial scheduled to determine the events that led to the untimely deaths of William Reffett and Curtis Strom.
