A White male, Timothy, aged 52, was a familiar face to many, having served with the Butte police force for 24 years before his retirement. Concern grew when he was reported missing, last seen in the afternoon of Thursday, October 19, 2017.
The search for the retired officer came to a tragic end when his body was discovered in the area of Homestake Lake, a location nestled to the east of Butte. Law enforcement officials confirmed that Tracy was found deceased, having sustained what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. This determination brought a sorrowful conclusion to the search, pointing to a personal tragedy rather than foul play.
Consequently, there were no arrests made or suspects sought in connection with his death.
Timothy, born on June 23, 1965, in Butte, was deeply rooted in the community he had served for over two decades. His life was remembered with a funeral Mass at St. Ann's Church, followed by a rite of committal at Holy Cross Cemetery. His passing left a void in the lives of his family, friends, and former colleagues in the law enforcement community.
