In the early hours of March 28, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Hill County deputies responded to reports of shots fired in the parking lot of the D&L Bar in Box Elder, Montana. Upon arrival, they discovered two men, identified as 41-year-old Darin Bernard Caplette and 42-year-old Thomas Roderick Yallup, both residents of the Rocky Boy Reservation, suffering from gunshot wounds near the gas pumps. Both victims were transported to medical facilities but succumbed to their injuries.
