In the early hours of a Tuesday morning, on May 24, 2005, the sense of normalcy in a Washington, D.C. neighborhood was shattered. Police received a call at approximately 1:00 a.m. directing them to the rear alley of 6711 Georgia Avenue, NW, situated just behind a Motel 6. There, they discovered a male, identified as Todd Hawkins, suffering from a gunshot wound.
