In the early hours of a Monday morning in Nampa, Idaho, the life of Jacob Aguiniga, a 26-year-old Caucasian male, was tragically cut short. On April 17, 2023, a series of violent events unfolded in a trailer park on the 16000 block of N. White Pine Street. The night was shattered by two separate, yet related, shootings that the Nampa Police Department would later classify as gang-related.
The initial incident occurred at approximately 1:35 a.m., when police responded to reports of an
individual firing a weapon from a vehicle. Upon their arrival, they discovered an adult male with a serious gunshot wound. As law enforcement was investigating this first shooting, a second call came in at 1:54 a.m. regarding another shooting nearby on Grande Pine Way. It was here that officers found Jacob Aguiniga. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
In the aftermath of the violence that claimed one life and left another man with what were described as "life-altering" injuries, the Nampa Police Department began an intensive investigation. Their efforts led to the arrest of a juvenile male in connection with the fatal shooting of Jacob Aguiniga. While an arrest was made in Aguiniga's death, authorities continued to search for suspects in the first shooting of the night. Nampa Police Chief Joe Huff expressed his sorrow over the "senseless loss of a young man," vowing that law enforcement would work diligently with neighboring agencies to combat such violence in their community.
