Lizette Eckert, 50, was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head in her Alton, New Hampshire home on the morning of March 15, 2019. Her husband, James Eckert, was also found at the residence with a gunshot wound and later died at the hospital.
Authorities responded to a reported shooting at the Eckert's Dobbins Way home and discovered the tragic scene.
A search ensued for a suspect, and a juvenile was taken into custody.
It was later revealed that the suspect was an 11-year-old boy who had been adopted by the Eckerts. He was charged with two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Lizette and James Eckert. This case brought up complex legal questions due to the young age of the accused.
