Elizabeth Fernandez, 42, a Latina woman, was found dead on January 1, 2024, at a property along Māmalahoa Highway in Kealakekua on Hawaiʻi Island. Just after noon on New Year’s Day, her father walked toward her residence on the same property and saw another body in the yard: her ex-boyfriend, lying near a rifle, apparently already dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
