On New Year's Day 2024, a tragic murder-suicide occurred in Kealakekua, Hawaii. Elizabeth Fernandez, a 42-year-old resident, was found dead in her home with a gunshot wound to her face. Her ex-boyfriend, whose identity was initially withheld, was found dead outside the residence with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
