In the late summer of 2007, the life of 29-year-old Tayon James Glover was cut short on a Thursday evening in Washington, D.C. On August 23rd, at approximately 9:55 p.m., Glover was shot and killed in the 1400 block of Girard Street, Northwest. The incident prompted an immediate response from the Metropolitan Police Department, who opened a homicide investigation into the fatal shooting. The case, however, would eventually go cold, leaving family and friends searching for answers.
Years after the shooting, details emerged that placed Glover's death within the context of a violent feud between rival neighborhood crews. Testimony from a former gang member in a separate 2014 murder trial revealed that Glover was believed to be a member of a group known as 'G-Rod.' According to the testimony, members of a rival crew, '1-7,' were allegedly responsible for Glover's killing, an act that was part of an escalating series of violent confrontations between the two groups.
