On a Saturday night in Washington, D.C., the life of 42-year-old Reginald Gaither was cut short. It was March 15, 2008, when police responded to a call at approximately 10:27 p.m. at the intersection of North Capitol and Evarts streets in the Northeast quadrant of the city. There, they discovered Gaither inside a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency services were unable to find any signs of life, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
