On February 25, 2016, 58-year-old Greg Gunn was fatally shot by Montgomery Police Officer Aaron Cody Smith in the Mobile Heights neighborhood of Montgomery, Alabama. Gunn, an African-American man, was walking home from a late-night card game around 3:20 a.m. when he was stopped by Officer Smith, a white officer patrolling the area.
