On September 11, 2016, in Eclectic, Alabama, 37-year-old Jesse Michael "Mike" Holton, a former mayor and firefighter, was found dead in his home from a gunshot wound to the back of his head. His estranged wife, April Holton, also 37, was discovered nearby with severe head trauma and a gunshot wound to her hand; she succumbed to her injuries the following day.
