In the late summer of 2017, a life was tragically cut short in Huntsville, Alabama. Carzella Little, a 20-year-old Black female, was killed on August 26th in an apartment on Clopton Street. Responding to a call, police officers discovered her body inside the residence; she had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. The circumstances of her death pointed not to a random act of violence, but to a deeply personal conflict that had escalated to a point of no return.
The initial investigation
quickly focused on someone close to Little. Present at the scene was her 25-year-old girlfriend, Datondra Mitchell. An argument between the couple had reportedly preceded the deadly shooting. Based on the evidence and the scene before them, law enforcement took Mitchell into custody. The gravity of the situation became clear as the Huntsville Police Department's Major Crimes Unit delved deeper into the events that transpired.
Following their investigation, authorities formally charged Datondra Mitchell with murder, specifically noting it as a case of domestic violence. Mitchell was subsequently booked into the Madison County Jail.
