On July 16, 2019, 72-year-old Janice Diane Ferguson Ballard was fatally shot during a home invasion at her residence on Elkwood Section Road near Ardmore, Alabama. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. when three men—Khalib Holden, Adrian Miguel Lopez, and Quintin Sincere Courtney—entered her home intending to purchase drugs.
