On August 9, 2019, 20-year-old Demetrius Darrell Bradford Jr. from Smiths Station, Alabama, was fatally shot in Columbus, Georgia. The incident occurred during a gathering at a residence on Mellon Street, known locally as a "trap house." Bradford was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
