On April 17, 2020, 54-year-old Janet Roper Emrico was fatally shot at her residence in the 200 block of Shagbark Trail in Somerville, Alabama. The Morgan County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting around 8:10 a.m. and confirmed Emrico's death at the scene. Authorities indicated that the incident stemmed from a family dispute, and one individual was taken into custody.
