On April 6, 2021, 17-year-old Layla Rebecca Watson was fatally shot in Andalusia, Alabama. That morning, Layla, along with Damien Lashawn Beasley, then 17, and two others, Brayden Awalt and Robert Jones, gathered at Awalt's grandmother's residence on Whatley Street.
