In a tragic turn of events that unfolded in Jacksonville, Alabama, 24-year-old Katlynn Marie Jones lost her life in a violent encounter. On Saturday, April 17, 2021, authorities discovered Jones deceased in her home, having sustained multiple gunshot and knife wounds. The grim discovery was made after a welfare check was initiated.
The tragedy extended beyond Jones's death, as her four-year-old son was also found at the scene with a gunshot wound to the head.
The young boy was immediately transported to a hospital in Birmingham, where he was listed in critical condition.
The suspect in this harrowing incident was identified as 21-year-old Alex L. Haynes of Oxford, who was described as Jones's boyfriend. According to police statements, Haynes had confessed to his mother that he had killed Jones. The pursuit, which began in Calhoun County and proceeded through the city of Oxford into Talladega County, came to a tragic end when Haynes shot himself to death in a field.
