On a tragic day in July 2021, the life of 84-year-old Joyce Ann Jeffries came to a violent end in Deatsville, Alabama. She was a female who was fatally shot in what authorities determined to be a murder-suicide. The incident, which also claimed the life of her daughter-in-law, Susan Jeffries, unfolded as a result of a domestic-related shooting.
The perpetrator was identified as Joyce's son, William Jeffries. In a conversation with his daughter just before the killings, he revealed his motive was his mother's recent diagnosis of dementia. After shooting his mother and his wife, William Jeffries then turned the gun on himself.
The devastating event left a daughter and her children unharmed but without their grandmother, mother, and grandfather. William Jeffries died shortly after from his self-inflicted gunshot wound. As the sole suspect, his death concluded the investigation into the deaths of Joyce Ann Jeffries and Susan Jeffries.
