On September 14, 2022, the body of 27-year-old Anthony "AJ" Matthews Jr. was discovered in the Shorter area of Macon County, Alabama. Preliminary investigations by the Montgomery Police Department indicated that Matthews had been fatally shot in Montgomery before his body was transported to the location where it was found.
