In the early evening of a spring day in Washington, D.C., the life of a young man was tragically cut short. Hubert Hunter, a 21-year-old Black male, was in the vicinity of the 600 block of Division Avenue Northeast, near Marvin Gaye Park, on April 10, 2014. At approximately 6:49 p.m., the sounds of gunfire echoed through the neighborhood. When authorities arrived, they found Hunter unconscious, having sustained at least one gunshot wound.
