Jermaine Dews, a 27-year-old Black male, was fatally shot on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 14, 2014, in Washington, D.C. The incident occurred at approximately 3:10 p.m. in the 5800 block of Field Place, Northeast, in the Burrville neighborhood.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene after reports of gunshots. Upon their arrival, they discovered Dews suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was found unconscious and not breathing, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
