In late May 2014, Rebecca Adams, 23, her boyfriend, Brandon Jividen, 38, and her two daughters, Michelle, 6, and Jaracca, 3, disappeared from their Kenai, Alaska, home. Their sudden absence prompted a massive search involving local police, the FBI, and community volunteers. The family's vehicles remained parked outside their residence, and personal belongings, including wallets and keys, were left behind, indicating an abrupt departure.
Despite extensive search efforts, the family remained missing for nearly ten months. In March 2015, a person driving on a trail less than a mile from their home discovered human remains, clothing, and a handgun. Authorities identified the bodies as those of Adams, her daughters, Jividen, and the family dog. The handgun found at the scene matched the serial number of a gun box located in their home.
Investigators concluded that Jividen fatally shot Adams, her children, and the dog before turning the gun on himself. The motive for the murder-suicide remains unclear, as no definitive reason was determined. The discovery brought a tragic end to the search, leaving the community and surviving family members in mourning.
