On April 1, 2023, in North Pole, Alaska, 52-year-old Aaron Earl Ham was fatally shot by his stepson, 25-year-old Logan Alvin Bruce. The incident occurred after Bruce discovered that Ham had sent inappropriate messages to Bruce's juvenile sister. Confronting Ham about these messages, Bruce admitted to shooting him but claimed it was in self-defense.
