Aaron Earl Ham was a 52-year-old white male who died by gunfire on April 1, 2023, in North Pole, Alaska.
According to a press release from the Alaska Department of Law, on April 12, 2023, a Fairbanks grand jury indicted Logan Alvin Bruce, a resident of North Pole, on charges related to the death of Aaron Earl Ham. Bruce was charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder.
The indictment alleges that Ham was Bruce's stepfather, and that the fatal incident followed accusations that Ham had sent inappropriate messages to Bruce's juvenile sister. Bruce has admitted to shooting Ham, but claimed he acted in self-defense.
As of the latest public information, Bruce is being held in the custody of the Alaska Department of Corrections. His bail requirements include a $50,000 performance bond plus a $500,000 unsecured appearance bond. A Superior Court arraignment was scheduled for April 19, 2023.
