An Alaskan Native man, 73-year-old Peter Frankson, was shot dead on the evening of August 14, 2024 in Point Hope, Alaska. He died from gunfire after an assailant entered his home on Agvik Street, in the western part of this remote Inupiat whaling village. The death was classified as a homicide.
Witnesses reported that a 16-year-old male suspect arrived at Frankson's residence armed with a handgun, forced entry and opened fire. The shooting was not isolated: it left multiple victims in its wake. Among them was a woman, Molly Stone, who also died, and two other men who were severely wounded during the same incident.
The suspect was identified as Guy Nashookpuk, age 16. He was arrested shortly after the shooting. According to court documents, he was charged as an adult with multiple felony counts including first-degree murder among others. Bail was set at **$1 million**, and legal proceedings were initiated, with Nashookpuk entering not guilty pleas.
