On September 2, 2023, 38-year-old Anthony Derrell Young was fatally shot in Midfield, Alabama. The incident occurred just before 3:00 a.m. in the 1200 block of 8th Avenue, where an argument escalated into a shooting. Upon arrival, Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies found Young suffering from a gunshot wound; he was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
