On October 6, 2023, 50-year-old Pleasant Grove resident Prentice Lamone Bibbs was fatally struck by multiple vehicles on Bessemer Super Highway near Sugar Ray Drive in the Midfield area. The incident occurred just before 8:30 p.m., with the initial vehicle involved fleeing the scene, leaving Bibbs to be subsequently hit by other vehicles. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
